“There are two reasons for doing this project. While working on a dj mix series I rediscovered the work of Angelique Kidjo with the song Hougbati; the riddim, feel of the song and the visuals that accompanied it pulled me into a conversation with Africa.
Soon after this rediscovery i entered into a very difficult period in my life. I was listening to her music constantly, I used it to take me through the difficulty. Her music kept Africa alive in me.”
